The free-to-play, browser-based MMO Family Guy Online will shut down on January 18, 2013. Based on Fox's popular Family Guy animated series, the MMO will remain in an open beta state until its shut down date.
As posted on Family Guy Online's official site, anyone who made in-game purchases within the last 60 days will be refunded. All refunds should be issued early next year, and if they aren't FGO's site encourages you to contact their support address.
IGN received confirmation through FGO support that this is not simply an open beta end date, but a permanent shut down. No specifics were given about why Family Guy Online will soon cease to be.
Another Family Guy-branded video game, Back to the Multiverse, was released in 2012. You can read the review on IGN.
As for Family Guy Online, did you ever check it out? What did you think of it?
