Mojang has unveiled that Minecraft (Xbox 360 Edition) has now sold over 5 million digital copies on Microsoft's console as of 31 December, 2012.
The news comes via the company's Daniel Kaplan on Twitter, and hot on the heels of yesterday's sales figures, which unveiled the game sold 453,000 copies across all platforms on Christmas Eve alone.

This is in conjunction with the game having sold 8.7 million copies on the PC and 5 million copies on iOS and Android. Overall, this brings the total number of copies sold across all platforms to over 18 million.
Mojang's most recent significant update was a pre-release version of patch 1.4.7, fixing multiple crashes and two “null pointer exception” cases introduced in version 1.4.6.
