What is Defense of the Alehouse? Is World of Warcraft getting a PvP MOBA-styled Battleground?

A first look at an overhead map of an unconfirmed multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA)-style battleground for World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria was posted over the holiday break, Wow Insider has reported.

Originally uncovered on wowserbia.com, the below video shows off what is said to be a homemade flythrough video of the battleground, dubbed Defense of the Alehouse. An image of the map can be seen below the video.

Says Wow Insider:

Initial observations would be that it's definitely a large battleground, which is to be expected, possibly indicating that it could be for more than 10 players. There appear to be two defined areas, and lots of bridges in certain points.

Defense of the Alehouse is reported to ship along with the 5.2 Patch, though there's no mention of it in the current patch notes posted on Battle.net.

We have reached out to Blizzard for confirmation and details. Wow Insider also adds that, "Of course, it should be noted that these are very, very early PTR datamined images, and should not be considered final." IGN has confirmed that neither the video, nor the map show any ale, houses, or alehouses.

Until we have confirmation, this could literally be anything, whether that means a map from Blizzard All-Stars, Defense of the Alehouse, or something entirely different. We'll update you as soon as we hear news.
