NaJin Shield take a solid 2-0 series from CJ Entus

CJ Entus vs. NaJin Shield

In the fourth match of Interleague week at OGN The Champions Winter, we have NaJin Shield against CJ Entus. In Game one, NaJin Shield took the early lead and was able to carry it, albeit with some difficulty, to victory. Game two proved to be a much closer game, however, NaJin was able to overcome this hurdle and take the 2-0 win.

Game1

CJ Entus

Bans: Zilean, Rengar, Diana

Picks

  • Cho'Gath - inSec (jungle)
  • Zyra - kkinsh (support)
  • Orianna - dade (mid)
  • Ezreal - Space (adc)
  • Jax - LongPand (top)

NaJin Shield

Bans: Lee Sin, Twisted Fate, Olaf

Picks

  • Irelia - Expession (top)
  • Caitlyn - BANG (adc)
  • Nunu - viNylCat (support)
  • Mundo - MOKUZA (jungle)
  • Karthus - HooN (mid)

In game one, an early invade quickly gave NaJin Shield first blood. After, Shield quickly put their strategy into effect, putting BANG and viNylCat in mid and sending HooN bottom with blue buff. viNylCat and MOKUZA took CJ Entus by surprise when they quickly went for a second invade, catching inSec, grabbing a second kill and stealing blue, instantly giving Shield a good advantage. The game progressed with Shield consistently increasing their advantage into a lead. Well placed ganks from MOKUZA and sometimes viNylCat gave Shield more kills, which also gave them more map control and were able to control neutral objectives. CJ Entus were able to pick up kills of their own, but Shield's lead only continued to grow. Despite this lead, Shield found it hard to close out the game. CJ were extremely resilient against Shield's split push and base sieges. Finally, two barons later, Shield forced their way into CJ's base. The tower was weak enough for Shield to quickly take the tower and immediately turn to mop up CJ Entus, and destroy the nexus.

Game2

CJ Entus

Bans: Zilean, Katarina, Rengar

Picks

  • Zyra - kkinsh (support)
  • Amumu - inSec (jungle)
  • Jax - LongPanda (top)
  • Ziggs - dade (mid)
  • Corki - Space (adc)

NaJin Shield

Bans: Twisted Fate, Olaf, Lee Sin

Picks

  • Cho'Gath - MOKUZA (jungle)
  • Sona - viNylCat (support)
  • Graves - BANG (adc)
  • Oriana - HooN (mid)
  • Irelia - Expession (top)

Game two began with a more standard opening. However, it wasn't long before a well placed gank from MOKUZA helped HooN pick up first blood. After first blood, there were a few minor trades, however, this game proved to be an extremely low kill game. Despite the seemingly close game, Shield seemed to clearly have the advantage, and was able to better control and take objectives. Once again, Shield found themselves slowly building a lead over CJ Entus. Once late game rolled in, CJ Entus continuously proved they are still in the game, despite the huge gold defecit. With Ziggs, CJ was able to prevent Shield from sieging their base, stalling out the game. inSec was even able to steal baron, creating an opportunity to come back. Unfortunately, Shield was still a little to strong for them. The game continued to be stalled until, in the 49th minute, inSec landed an amazing initiation. Unfortunately, Shield proved to be too strong, ending the fight in an ace for Shield, giving them the 2-0 series.

Match Breakdown

NaJin Shield played with a lot of consistency this series. Every match, they were able to quickly take the advantage and turn it into a lead. This allowed them to take and control objectives with relative ease. Shield struggled a bit to close out games, giving Team OP chances at coming back. Fortunately, in game one, Shield employed a brute force tactic and dived CJ Entus, forcing their way to victory, while in game two, CJ Entus initiated the final fight, brilliantly landing their skill combo. Unfortunately for CJ, Shield still had the clear power lead and the counter aggression devastated CJ, giving Shield the 2-0 series.

MVP

The MVP for me is Expession for both games. He consistently proved he was the better top laner against LongPanda's Jax. Of course he had some help from MOKUZA, but LongPanda was also not without help from inSec. In both games, Expession was able to at least double LongPanda's creep score for the entire game. This farm lead made him an absolute terror in team fights, dealing lots of damage, and being nearly unkillable.
